中共中央總書記習近平11日在北京人民大會堂會見緬甸反對派領袖、全國民主聯盟主席翁山蘇姬。習近平指出，希望翁山蘇姬能更深入了解中國和中共，有助於增進雙方相互理解和信任，為兩黨及中緬關係打下更好基礎；他也希望翁山蘇姬和全國民主聯盟能「積極引導緬甸民眾，公正理性看待中國和中緬合作」，為兩國關係發展增添更多正能量。
新華社11日報導，翁山蘇姬表示，中緬兩國是鄰居，而鄰居是不可選擇的，致力於兩國友好關係發展至關重要。她強調，緬甸全國民主聯盟重視中緬友好，欽佩中共領導中國取得的巨大發展成就，希望透過此訪深化兩黨關係，推動兩國人民之間的友好關係向前發展。
習近平指出，中緬是親密友好的鄰居；建交65年來，中緬傳統友誼歷經風雨從未改變，這是兩國歷代領導人和兩國人民共同努力的結果，要「倍加珍惜」。
他強調，中方始終從戰略高度和長遠角度看待中緬關係，支持緬甸維護主權獨立和領土完整，尊重緬甸自主選擇發展道路，支持緬甸民族和解進程，堅定不移推進中緬傳統友好和務實合作；他希望且相信緬方在中緬關係問題上的立場也是一貫的，無論國內形勢如何變化，都將積極致力於推動中緬友好關係發展。
習近平與翁山蘇姬這場會面，大陸國務委員楊潔箎、中聯部部長王家瑞也出席與會；全國人大副委員長、全國婦聯主席沈躍躍11日也在北京會見了翁山蘇姬。
